No, but if you are black and you are sitting on the corner in an area known for drug dealing, and you don't seem to have a valid reason to be there, you are probably a drug dealer and will draw the attention of the police. Again, if it walks like a duck.... What you are guilty of has nothing to do with your ethnicity.

In case you guys in Wisconsin don't get all the news, they hired 1000 additional Border Patrol agents in the past couple of years. The only complaining I hear about is the lack of rental properties available for them and the inaction of the federal government to do more to staunch the hemorraging of local money to pay the bills for guarding the U.S. border. That is, unless you count the bitching and complaining of the Mexican consulate about how badly their citizens are treated when they sneak into the USA.

I don't whine. The police weren't doing their job, that is simply stating a fact. Sounds to me like they were the ones whining when Mike made them do their job.

Yes even though I'm a MEXICAN, I do agree that all ilegal activity should be punished.(I'm A city COP) Although, the underground economy is a very important part of the micro economics of this contry, and the cheap labor helps in keeping certain products and services at a reasonable cost; so I think that not all illegal allien are bad for the US.

Something else. Not all the illegal alliens are from Mexico.
 
Hey Blito, where were you born? If your country of origin is the U.S.A. then you're an American, and you'd damn better be proud of it. My mother's parents were born in Ireland, but that doesn't make me Irish. An aweful lot of "real" Mexicans wish they could say they were Americans, but can't. And because they broke the law and became criminals getting into the USA, they'll probably never be able to claim that privilege.

I was born in Monterrey Mexico. My wife is a US citizen as well as my children. I hope to be able to be a proud US citicen in a couple of years.
And please don't take my posting as a negative coment. The thing is that in some instances some people hear Mexican and they immediately think Ilegal allien, and that isn't always thruth.
I think I'm allways going to be proud of my heritage...specially the food, LOL.

As a mater of fact, I have been looking forward on meeting some of you guys in Colorado.
 
Nigel I am with you 98%. I realize that the situation in Mexico is not favorable by our standards. And they are just seeking a better life. But isnt there a legal way to become a "legal"? They can get a work Visa and if they choose to stay why dont they try to get their citizenship? It is a problem in West Texas. And it urks me that an illegal child cannot be denied an education. Schools have to accomodate the illegal children by hiring a $28,000 a year bilingual teacher. This is a burdon on taxpayers.

As long as they can speak the language and qualify for their citizenship thats cool. But if they cant, well back to the 1.50 a week for them.

Ive canoed 99 miles of the Rio Grande and I have had the opportunity to see the border life first hand. On the border they harvest Candellia and boil it for the wax. One man from sun up to sun down can load two burros with a carrying capacity of 60 pounds each. Candellia wax is going for $.50 a pound. Out of 120 pounds you can yeild approx. 15-20 pounds of wax. Thats $10 a day. Not easy. So I can see their point. But we have laws to keep the peace on our soils and if they choose to go about it stupid, then they go back. If they put in a little effort and try to learn our ways and constitution then beans and tortillas for everybody.

I have read very many compeling points on both sides of the coin in this thread. But what really stands out to me is not the validy of any one point but rather the amount of NAZIs on this board. The way I have seen the Mexican people spoken about here is an absolute disgrace! These are human beings, not savages. And many here are arrogant slobs that somehow think the are superior to other people.

Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, realize I have not taken a side in this issue. I am however, very ashamed of the way people here are talking about other people.

For what it is worth here is my two-cent's.

I don't blame anyone for coming to America with the state of affairs everywhere else but here's the deal:
America shouldn't be reaching into my pockets (read -steal) to make their arrival and stay possible. I can assure you those that came (our ancestors) didn't run down to the local SS office and get handouts at the current citizens expense (handouts did not exist then, it was considered tyranny and theft). As I remember my grandparents talking about it they busted their ass making their own way or went hungry until they made it happen. Remember reading in history about the people that froze cause they didn’t work hard and grow enough crops. Helping honest people out of a bind is one thing but the government has no business or constitutional right to provide benevolence.
The government loves bringing in illegal’s and not running them through the citizenship programs because then they vote like aliens and keep the social liberals in office to provide even more theft from everyone’s pocket.
Then to top it off they don’t want to be Americans they want to be Mexican-Americans, Latino Americans, and African-Americans. What a crock. Our ancestors died to become Americans none of this hyphenation BS. All that does is fragment the hell out of our society and excuse me the language here IS English. And that road crew, where ever they were from, was earning their paycheck. They weren't a bunch of porch monkeys sitting around waiting for their "entitlement" to show up on the 1st and the 15th of the month.

Money fuels this country.

I work 50 hours a week and provide 100% financial support for my wife and two kids, one with cerebal palsy. Now I cant afford to have two illegals come thru my back door at dinner time and expect me to feed and cloth them and put them to bed. I couldnt afford it.

The U.S. is the same, just on a larger scale. Am I right? Taxes fuel this country. You and I pay taxes, can we afford to carry everyone or anyone for that matter? Should that burdon be placed on our shoulders? Not on mine, I'll answer that one. Like was said above, "if they wanna stay they need to play by the rules". Thats all.

I've heard some pretty compelling evidence from both sides. Illegals have to be paid in cash. That means no taxes withheld. Which means free ride, which means I'm broke.

I'll say again, we cant open the doors and sit and watch the stampede. We have laws in place and if they abide, then beans and tortillas for everyone. If not, adios. Thats not Naziism. Thats the just the facts of life. We already provide foodstuffs for too many poverish countries. Yea this is a pretty good place to live and thats because our forefathers made it that way. My greatgrandparents and yours. Does that mean we have to share the fruits of their labor to every starving country out there? No its to big of a task. Lets get our crap together for tax paying Americans first and then spread the wealth. I for one aint being taken care of. So do I want to watch the plane go overhead on its way to Africa to deliver food when my severly brain damaged son can't qualify for Medicaid? Hell Im struglin'. I need some relief here. And a stronger and more harsher set of border laws will trickle back to me one way or the other.

I took it that you were pointing that statement to the majority of the members. If thats not the case, no hard feelings. Just thought that was a low blow to the guys who stand on the other side of the fence.
 
Very interesting post with some good points. That is what makes America great and makes people want to come here, the freedom to have an opinion AND express it. That being said I will not offer my personal feelings on how the problem should be addressed, suffice to say I do believe it is a problem.

What I will say is that I have no problem with a legal immigrant who comes here and gets a legal job and pays taxes just like me.

The issue is illegal activity! As an LEO with over ten years in the field believe me, no one wants criminal illegals out of the country more. Those of you in AZ may remember about two years or so ago a young officer with small children was shot and killed in Phoenix by three illegal immigrants engaging in illegal activity. The procession of Police bikes and cars at that funeral was unbelievable. The emotion of the last radio call was enough to make any reasonable officer want to act unreasonably.

Don't get me wrong, if you guys read my posts you know there is no more conservative 2nd Amendment supporting person then I, but most of you also know that, sad to say, if those under the table cash paying jobs went legit to legals, the prices of those goods and services would increase as well. Think of it as a trade off, higher taxes for education and healthcare for illegals and lower costs for, as was stated above, landscaping and sprinkler systems.

Generalizations are flat out ignorant. There are more but I really haven't the time to go back and find them. Look for yourself.

I reiterate, I don't have a problem with the issue at hand. I have a BIG problem with prejustice and gross generalizations. I've heard that Texans can't tell the difference between an elk and a moose because Colorado moose fall every year to out-of-stater's rifles during elk season. Do I believe that generalization about Texans? No way! But you seem to believe every Mexican that crosses the border here only has an interest in taking food out of your babie's mouth. Bull Puckey. Lord knows Americans don't abuse the system, right?!?! LOL Some take advantage of this country and some do their very best to become productive members of this society with dreams of becoming Americans. Many, many, many do. That is indeed the American dream and I personally admire the hell out of those that do. I sure as heck admire them more than the guy that has nothing better to do with his time than to go childishly "Tattle" on the illegals.

P.S. For what its worth, 2 1/2 years ago my company employed between 18 - 23 full time Mexican employees. We did wage withholding on everyone of them. I can't recall exact figures, but I think those Mexican boys poured more than $150,000.00 into the US Treasury.

I didnt skim the posts, in fact it took me 45 min to read most of them. "Pooping Babies" was a statement out of anger by a member that was directed at the entire Mexican race not the issue at hand which initialy was " 15 illegals walking our streets illegaly". Ignorance is not against the law, swimming across the American-Mexican border is. Mike McDonald did what he knew to do.

I personally would have contacted the local BP agency and I know they would be gone by the time the BP got there but they would eventually sniff em out and send them back until the smartened up and did it right. They are breaking our laws the second the step on our soils, do you honestly think that they are going to uphold them later?

Your either fine with illegal activity or your against it, there is no middleground here. A lawbreaker is a lawbreaker. Ive never heard of a " sort of a lawbreaker." Its black and white and its right or its wrong. You for one see thats its o.k.. I respect that. I for one think its wrong. I for one thinks its wrong that Native Americans are living on reservations and that Custard was overseeing shipments of smallpox infested blankets shipped to the indians. So I do understand that our voyage was executed illegally according to the indians ways. But we are here and what is done is done. So I as you see am for humanity. But these poverish people need to correct their system and we need to uphold and our citizens (Mike McDonald) need to help in the execution of our laws so that you and I can live in the bed that we made for ourselves. Not for the rest of the world.

Again I am only speaking about the illegals not the Mexican community as a whole.
