What are your gas prices?

Sounds like we need to get into the refining business$$$
Anyone know what that takes?

Several billion dollars, just for starters
My dad is a control and instrumentation electrician, he is working in a refinery in Denver, Who just had to spend about 500 million dollars to comply with the latest rounds of government restrictions, and requirements for pollution controls.

I am not going to be very popular here for what I am about say but here it is anyhow

It is a very expencive game these companys are playing, billions of dollars at every turn in the road, What do you think this hurricane in the gulf has cost them?

I am not taking their side in the gas prices, I dont like either, record profits maybe so, but these companys must be ready to lay out billions of dollars at the drop of a hat. Thats pretty hard to do with no money in the check book.

Like I said in my above post, these refinerys have to make possibly 100's of different types of fuels, for different federal and state requirements, Why dont we get rid of those first, come up with a nation wide standard so these companys only have to make 3 types of fuel? would that lower the cost of fuel? with out a doubt!

Gas taxes alone here in colorado, last I heard attributed to about .60 cents a gallon, someone may have better info on this than me, please correct me if I am wrong.

There are so many factors that affect the cost of fuel, cost of oil, refineing costs, middleman markup, distrubitor markup, transportation costs, and the last one on the list, the guy you get it from, local gas station owners profits!!
Just think for a moment how many times the cost of transportation is figuerd in this mix? from getting crude oil out of the ground, to the gallon of gas you put in your car.
HUH this might stir up a hornets nest, but a few more thoughts from the brain of furhunter!

Yep, someone needs to smack the whiney liberals in the mouth everything they open their pie hole. All these enviromental whack jobs have done in the past 20 years is make the US more dependant of foreign oil. It's like the AFLCIO, what does it take before the vast majority of Americans stand up and in unison tell them to shut up and go away?

There is no reason why we shouldn't put refinaries on military bases the BRAC is getting ready to shut down. Heck, they aught to build a nuclear power plant right next to them.

BTW, gas prices are down a little to $2.99 here at some locations in Indianapolis.

Mavrick, I also was Alpha 1/9 3rd Marine Div way back in 69, How bout you? what year? Oh Yea gas here in n e Pa is $3.20/gal

Here in England we are paying the equivalent of $ 1.83 A LITRE! The fuel tax protests are due to start again next week.

The price per gallon of unleaded regular with Ethanol just went from $3.149 to $2.999 on Wednesday of this week. There had been serious talk about state officials starting an investigation into price gouging a couple days before that. You don't suppose that had any effect on the price?!?!?!

Well,it's $2.91 for the cheap grade at the costco in phoenix. The brainwashing is really working. Now we all think great its under $3 a gallon, what a deal.sheesh!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gifdaveyboy

85 octane (with ethanol) plunged from 2.99 down to an incredible 2.97 a gallon. Overnight!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

This morning the lowest price in the capital district area of Albany,NY was $3.09 for regular. There has been a bunch of talk about price gouging but that has been all so far, talk.

$2.889 seems to be the best price I've seen between the north side of Indy (usually $2.999) and Beech Grove. Think we'll ever see gas below $2 a gallon again?

Finally down a little areound the north side of Indy. I filled up for $2.57 last night. However, the stations in my neighborhood are trying to hold on to their $2.79 prices. Record profits in the wake of a dissaster...got to love it.

Let's see, what happens to prices if Rita hits Houston?
