whydo you hunt predators?

ecologists also are employed by the government to study the environment and report back to them on how to better "manage" ecosystems. The same government who also employs government trappers!!

So it's OK as long as we don't have fun?

Oh my....this is deja vu of my animal hoarder neighbor.

I'll tell you, the same thing I told her. Come spend a day or two on some cattle ranches that are open range calving and you'll see EXACTLY why coyote hunting in necessary.

Of course, she changed her mind about hunting, after her dogs were killed and eaten by the coyotes.

well if it werent scientific that they need hunted then the state biologists would not give us a season for them. they do studies and know what the science books they got a degree from say. thats whay they make seasons for every animal that can be hunted.

we dont have to be scientists to hunt. what are duties are is to follow the people who make the laws about hunting. when science studies show that coyote hunting should stop, they will tell us to quit hunting them.

the evidence should not come from ecologists,it should come from biologist that work for each state.that are trying to manage all game.not the so called ecologist that back up animal rights groups that have nothing more to do than interfear with our rights.just like the wolves that have about wiped out the elk and moose in several states.

One last comment and that's all we had a town meeting in my area years ago were they brought in an ecologist to help with they predation problem. She thought it would be better to sterilize the coyotes rather than euthanizing them. One of the local sheep ranchers suggested that they would be better off to pull their teeth. the lady looked at him like he was stupid and asked just why the state should spend millions on pulling teeth on coyotes rather than spaying them. To that the rancher replied the coyotes aren't trying to fornicate with his sheep they are eating them. true story

Predator hunters are predators in their own right. Coyotes kill everything from mice and rabbits to livestock that men need to survive and thrive in this world. Predator hunters, in contrast do what they do according to the laws in their region. The furs are sold for profit for the hunter and for clothing and fashion for others. Predator hunters are a huge help to managing wildlife by reducing the numbers of predators. When I was growing up woodchucks were everywhere where I live. Tons of them were hit in the road everywhere you looked, but farmers had to keep shooting them or have someone do it for them, or the fields their crops and livestock were in would be full of dens. Each den could have three or even four holes. Now a woodchuck is rarely seen, and almost never hit in the road. We used to have cottontail rabbits everywhere. Now there are very few rabbits, even in our villages. Coyotes, on the other hand, are everywhere, even in our villages at night.

My sister and brother in law have had six young beef calves killed by coyotes this year alone. Can you tell them that the coyotes had to eat, and it's just balancing the ecosystem? They put a lot of hard work and money into their farm, with a very narrow profit margin.

Two different friends of mine both found two young fawns torn apart by coyotes on their property this year. The deaths of those four deer alone will affect the deer herd numbers this year and in years to come.

Hunting is part of being human, and can be traced back to when God told Adam and Eve to go forth and multiply, and to take dominion over the animals. It isn't just done indiscriminately.

So in essence, what you are saying is that you are not against killing coyotes, since in reality is is never bad on the ecosystem to do so. You also support the killing of coyotes that have a detrimental impact on livestock or people.

However you take exception with anyone "having fun" killing coyotes. Hunting coyotes serves many purposes, for which each hunter has his or her own. Having fun along the way is certainly part of the experience and nothing to be ashamed about.

Here's a question for you: do you believe that sex, which serves a variety of purposes in a relationship should be practiced for the express purpose of procreation and that no "fun" should be had in its pursuit?

Here's another one for you: ever had any "fun" getting together with friends and family to enjoy a bbq or other meal? Unless you are a vegan something was "killed" so you could have your fun.

In any event, I do what I want when and with whomever I choose to do it with, with no regard to the opinions of narrow minded people like yourself.

If you want my opinion, and I'm sure that of most people on this board, I think you should take your "crusade" and your "holier than thou" attitude and go troll elsewhere with it.

The relevance of people like you is definitely questionable...

This is rediculous, y'all don't owe Mr. Tweed any explanations for doing what is legal!

I'm done with this. Besides, there is a bunny on my porch just begging for the boot heel. When I'm done, I'm going to eat the little doe eyed ba$tard and wash it down with a refreshing Koala milk shake!

Good times

if the above is true: in areas where coyotes are over hunted, it could have a POTENTIAL negative affect on the ecosystem. in areas where they are hunted little, it will have little effect, and possibly increase the population.

BUT, i am starting to realize how little i know about this topic and i am doing more research. the main reasons i made this thread was to find out why people hunt predators, encourage people to research the ecology of predator control, and learn things from personal experience of hunters.

sigh.... i never said theres anything wrong with having fun killing a coyote. i said killing a coyote purely for the fun of it is wrong. there should be a reason, like to sell its fur or benefit the local environment. and there is obviously a difference between having sex and hanging out with friends and killing an animal for fun.

Has anyone ever noticed that a lot of the people who support killing unborn babies are against killing coyotes for fun?

Now that sounds like a worthwhile crusade.....
