Yeah just now when I'm posting this I see there is only 5 aiming points not the 6 required!

EPIC FAIL ALL THE WAY AROUND!!

I know I'm in trouble now as I'm not sure if the bank will loan me any more money after the 100's of dollars I just wasted.

If it wasn't for them dam fliers I would have had you!.

Great post... I got a good laugh this morning. We've all had those days that things just don't work out... I can appreciate that.

I think your "judging" is fair. A particular rifle shouldn't post multiple times. Also no need to worry about me "cleaning the board" with 10 rifles, but I do have a rifle or three I'd like to shoot. One or two I'm expecting good things, the others won't be anything spectacular by no means. Just waiting on my government check to cover the high bullet costs.

Looking forward to more prints! I can promise everyone will take something away from this "test" & I'm sure even the viewers are learning something if they are paying attention! One thing is for sure... I haven’t seen a "my rifle shoots 1/4" groups all day long" post in over a week

Dug the Savage from the back of safe.
Savage 12BVSS 22-250
Winchester 55gr Ballistic Silvertips
Was hoping we would do a little better, but it is what it is. Shot from bench with bipod and rear bag, on 9/27/12.

Well I went out at about 11 and did this stupid game
wink.gif

It was actually kinda fun to do. I shot a little fast and I did the cardinal screw up before I shot, last week after shooting I cleaned my gun and snaked my barrel twice. Oh well. I'll see if it's nice in the morning and I'll head out again.
Anyhow here's the groups

This is how I was shooting which I'm not really used to either. I normally have a tack driver rest but it's on to better places lol it's a win mod 70 HV 22-250

Like I said I'm gonna size a bunch of brass, NOT clean my rifle and go out in the morning and see if I can get them all down a bit. I know the gun shoots better, it's just cause your all looking;).
Good time though thanks dm for the humble pie, my favorite lol. So the two measure out at .316 and .488 not bad at all

Also was shooting 35.5gr varget with a hornady 55gr sp bullet. Velocity for all these was from 3590-3630. Pretty good load just need to get it tightened up.

Yep I just seen one in the "VERY pleasant surprise with Savage .223!" thread. We will see if it happens.

I'm sure everyone that has shot this comp has already learned from it. Even if all they learned is it breaks the bank to shoot!
lol.gif

Really nice shooting there guys! Both of you are so close to getting the under MOA board it almost kills me not to put your names there! Nastynatesfish you missed it by .048!

Had to do some moving around the learder boards! This is starting to get really fun now.

Keep it up guys. Seems the bolt action guys are more then happy to show their groups as the AR guys seem to be affraid!

You all better run once I get back to the range! Going to knock you all down a spot! Yes even you Coleridge.
tt2.gif
Maybe not but I will dam sure try.
thumbup.gif
If not I will just take my guns and go home.
cry.gif

I'm taking the 250 back out tomorrow and I'm gonna take my Mauser 308 and try it too. Next week my 223 will be back from getting the bottom metal installed and I'm on It like stink on poo...
Them first two groups had me so mad I wish I'd have brought the dog with me, I needed something to kick lol

Yes that is correct. Also you can post as many targets as you want and we will take the best.

Just don't go broke doing it!
wink.gif

DM as soon as I get the predator back with the BattleComp on, you will get a target, I promise its either gonna be 1/8 in groups or howitzer size groups. Unless you want me to drag the .17 out?

The "preferred" is a better deal. It gives 2% cash back.

Jack

Has anybody figured out. It cost more to drive to the range then to shoot this.
sick.gif

If you never done it try it. With a 223 if you buy the ammo its $22.00, Ill pay that anytime to get out of the house. You will also get humbled real fast the first time you do it. I can do pretty good on the first four. The last two pretty well........sux.

Iv come to figure out the only thing moa is my brain (More Or Alott more)messed up.

Get a buddy go to the range and have fun.

Well took the Mauser 308 out and shot did decent, I know it'll do better though. I'll try again next weekend. Anyhow, it's got a 20x42 SS scope on it, ershaw 24" barrel running 43gr of H4895 with a 168gr hornady match bthp.
Here's the rifle as I shot

Trust me I was cussing up a storm on the last two. I started rushing because it was trying to rain on me lol. Maybe the gods mstook my jumping around and yelling at the shots as a rain dance lol. Anyhow, I'm taking this one back out and see if I can't pull them first shot in and close it up to a low .6 or .7. I know I've shot groups like that before but not long strings like this. I took about 5 minutes in between the first 4 groups and shot the last two both in about 5 minutes. Again I had a good time. Thank DM, I aint done yet...:)

In regards to the "this contest costs too much" complaints:

I agree with the premise of the contest, and when I get a free day (we're in archery deer season), I'll be playing my hand, with six (6) five (5) shot groups fired at one hundred yards (100) on one (1) page, measured O-O minus bullet diameter marked on the paper, picture of the calipers on the best group, and average displayed...

BUT!!!!!

I'm completely confident that I'll be shooting a couple hundred rounds in order to get 6 good groups on the page!!!

Which, unfortunately is probably against the spirit of this game... Shooting multiple pages and picking out the best page is a bit harder than picking out 6 of the best groups my rifle has ever shot, but it's still open to a little "number fudging"... Shooting 100pgs with 1.4" groups to finally get ONE group with 0.99" avg mostly tells me that rifle ISN'T capable of sub-MOA, even though the "published evidence" (online posted pictures of a 0.99MOA group) will suggest otherwise.

Sure, the 30 shots for record will only cost me about $30, but it's the other shots that DON'T make the internet that will end up costing me an arm and a leg!!

BUT!!!!

I'm completely confident that I'm going to THOROUGHLY ENJOY shooting a couple hundred rounds to see if I can get a page with 6 sub-MOA groups!!!

I got this rifle put together in December of last year. I've probably got 400 through it. I have 300 loaded for it. I don't oust anything as a waste if I'm having fun. I just like shooting. My Mauser is gonna be lucky if it stays 308 for the next year so I need to get on it and burn some ammo up lol. My 22-250 I'm thinking of either AI or rebarreling it to something else, maybe 260 or just a faster twist barrel like a 1-9 instead of the 12 it is now.

Oh great! Now you are going to cause a reloading supply shortage with this little contest.
cursing.gif

Guys will run 300 rounds just to compete, times that by 40,000, we are going to have a problem.
scared.gif

This is inter-web Benchrest! Don't press the muzzle against the paper, we will see that.
