What you don’t know about ADC

they may change their behavior as conditions get worse or better.

Again, right on. That is one of the messages that Cal was trying to deliver in the other thread. We don't want to "inadvertantly" be the cause of creating a condition that could make the situation worse.

Taking the time to gain a little more knowledge about ADC work will help in keeping the wires from getting crossed.

Here's another nugget from that thread, http://texnat.tamu.edu/ranchref/predator/pred.htm

The wires are getting crossed because the ADC guys get sideways with the other folks whenever the have no right to. If you have permission to be there hunting, keep your mouth shut and hunt. If you can't handle a someone else beign out there with every right to be, then you need to go home.

Bullying your way into an existing operation is not necessary, and only creates a hostile relationship with the ADC Agent. That's not necessary. There's no reason we can't work with them. The problem arises when we try to work over the top of them. That's counter-productive.

I've had ADC Agents tell me "Stay out of this section. It's trapped and baited". Then turn around and show me an area where he won't be working, but he says holds coyotes.

These guys aren't "adversaries", they're paid exterminators! If you help them do their job, they aren't going to complain. But if you're walking thru their set-up you're just making their job harder.

I agree with you on working together NASA. I just have a problem with some folks getting a little to wrapped around the axle. I know not all agents are that way and i know all rec hunters aren't the most friendly either; however, it bothers me when they try to give the impression that they are superior and our hunting for the joy of it is not as important.

I guess i need to stop letting the few with issues bother me and concentrate on those out there willing to offer good advice and help everyone willing to listen, "professional" or not.

HOLY COYOTE!!! Byron please make it stop, please. I'm begging you to make these guys start talking about something new.......

I tell you Rus, some guys just have a higher threshold of tolerance to pain, insight, facts and common sense. Sometimes you just have to keep wacking them upside the head with it, till they finally get it, or are rendered unconscious, and can't get it:)
In any arguement, there's a 50 percent chance your wrong, even when you might think your right. Sometimes it takes a long time for a guy to finally scratch his head, rub his chin, and say, yeah, maybe there's something to that:)
Thats what NASA was striving for I think. He offered some interesting insights, attempted to get some of the truely knowledgable professionals to weigh in,and separate the fly shi*, from the pepper.
From there it went some 112 posts, over 2,000 views, lots of teeth grinding, informative and not so informative posts, humorous posts, and not so humorous posts, self righteous, as well as indignant posts, and still, all is well. If left alone thats what these boards do, never a need for the dreaded lock down. It's usually self regulating in the end, truth will pervail and BS will fall thru the cracks,or fall on deaf ears?
If NASA could ever coax back a couple of the guys who know and do this stuff for a living, and those who think they know, could sit with opened ears and closed mouths, unless to ask thoughtful questions....man I bet we could pick up some useful gems?
99% of us are just coyote and predator callers, either novice, weekend or plain serious about it. But; there are a select few that take it farther than most of us do,and really get into what makes the coyote tick,biologically,psychologically,vocally....all that stuff.
What would be good is to have a topic header of, Q&A for the pros, get guys like Cal or our own Rich Higgins to answer solid questions, with good lengthy responses. It's easy to smirk and potty mouth someone who knows more than you,and whisper to your buddy, "hail,he don't know nothin' more than anyone else, whats he talkin' bout" but that doesn't change the fact that he does. There's always gonna be someone who knows more than you about a particular subject, thats life. A smart man recognizes that, and listens, rather than snicker and disrupt the get together because he wants to do it "his" way, or because it is legal? A guy can do it "his" way,or becasue it's "legal", and still be wrong, either ethically or factually.

Well Said Chilerojo ! somtimes,ya just might not know what you think you do. thats why we have two ears and only one mouth.I was hoping to read and learn a little more from some of the posts too bad it could'nt have proceeded in a much calmer manner. and not get locked down we have some of the most knowledgeable coyote men I've ever heard on this site and I love to read, more than I contribute simply due to the fact I've got a lot to learn.I do like a littlie excitment in the posts but not a a non productive level.
Thanks for you insight you put it in perspective.

There is also more than 1 way to skin a cat, and many people forget that fact as well.
Sometimes it is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt. Dang I wish I could learn to keep my mouth shut.

Out of the several "Pros/Experts" here, Rich in AZ is the only one that consistantly offers usable information, advice and techniques. What's that say about the others?

I guess mine is lower, I hate it when it gets personal. There are to many good guys here. your right we should all listen and share when it is appropriate but try to get all the good info that we can from each other but never at anyones expense. Heck I like everyone on here.
Even ol' Rooster Feather
Rus

I didn't mention any names except for Rich's. Maybe it's the way some folks talk down to the new guys or even the experienced hunters on here. As far as fish's one sentence telling people how the wrong coyote was shot maybe he could have followed it up with the reasons he believes this and what could be done next time. He not only didn't do that, he accused cmiddleton of lying about the entire incident.

guess

I'm sure most of you are getting sick and tired of me, but I'm really not on these boards to get on someones friends list. I just want to learn! More than likely you will never find me jumping on someone for shooting out of the window, hunting with hounds or hunting with pickups and cb's etc.

Some people might think it's antagonistic for me to keep pumping people for a explanation on how they are going to take care of a predation problem(pups and all) by simple calling. I really want to hear answers to that, because I am just a recreational caller. So far no ones really told me how to do it other than keep calling till the last one drops. I not real happy with that answer, but it might be true?

Like most members here, there's no intent on my part to self-promote, I have nothing to sell.

Greenside, nobody's getting sick and tired of you. Most of us are here for the same reasons and somebody has to ask the questions, even if you have to "pump" some folks for it. Keep it up or we'll have to start tag-teaming these guys! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
